This 5-day camping safari focuses on two top wildlife areas in Tanzania – Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. You will also have time to relax and enjoy the journey at a slower pace.

You will travel in a 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof, stay in tents at public campsites, and eat meals prepared by your safari cook. This is a simple and fun way to explore Tanzania’s nature and animals.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

  • Pick-up from the airport and transfer to your lodge in Arusha.

  • Meet your safari guide for a short briefing.

  • Dinner and overnight at a budget lodge in Arusha.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

  • After breakfast, drive to Tarangire (about 2 hours).

  • Full-day game drive in Tarangire, home to elephants, zebras, lions, and many birds.

  • See the famous baobab trees and the Tarangire River.

  • Picnic lunch in the park.

  • Dinner and overnight at a campsite near the park.

Day 3: Full Day in Tarangire

  • Another full day to explore more of Tarangire.

  • Look for animals at different times of day and in different parts of the park.

  • Picnic lunch and time to relax at the campsite in the afternoon.

  • Dinner and overnight at the same campsite.

Day 4: Tarangire – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

  • After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro with views of the highlands along the way.

  • Optional stop at a Maasai village (extra cost).

  • Dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite on the rim of the crater.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

  • Early morning breakfast, then descend into the Ngorongoro Crater.

  • Game drive on the crater floor – a good place to see rhinos, lions, buffalo, zebras, and hippos.

  • Picnic lunch inside the crater.

  • In the afternoon, drive back to Arusha.

  • Drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
