The Lemosho Route is one of the most beautiful and quiet paths to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. It starts on the western side of the mountain and gives great views and time to adjust to the high altitude.
This 8-day route is good for those who want more days to climb slowly and increase the chance of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m). It’s a full camping trip, with tents, a guide, cook, and porters supporting you all the way.







Day 1: Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m)
Drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate for registration.
Begin the trek through forest with chances to see monkeys.
Reach Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and overnight in tents.
Walking time: 3–4 hours
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp (3,500m)
Trek out of the forest and into moorland.
Enjoy views of the Shira Plateau.
Camp at Shira 1.
Walking time: 5–6 hours
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)
A slower day with more time to adjust to the altitude.
Cross the plateau to Shira 2 Camp for dinner and rest.
Walking time: 3–5 hours
Day 4: Shira 2 – Lava Tower (4,600m) – Barranco Camp (3,960m)
Climb up to Lava Tower, then descend to Barranco Camp.
This helps your body adjust better to the altitude.
Walking time: 6–8 hours
Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (4,035m)
Climb the famous Barranco Wall.
Walk through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp.
Walking time: 4–5 hours
Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (4,640m)
Short walk to Barafu Camp, the base before the summit.
Rest, eat, and prepare for the final night climb.
Walking time: 3–4 hours
Day 7: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)
Wake at midnight to start the final climb.
Reach the summit at sunrise and celebrate at Uhuru Peak.
Go back to Barafu to rest, then down to Mweka Camp.
Walking time: 12–14 hours
Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
Walk down through the rainforest to the gate.
Return to Moshi for a hot shower and well-earned rest.
Walking time: 3–4 hours
